Emerging Scientist Award in Motor Control

Posted on July 19, 2010

It is with great pleasure that I am announcing a new award starting with the ISB 2011 in Brussels. The award will be the first of its kind aimed at senior graduate students (typically doctoral students towards the end of their graduate career).

The award is sponsored by one of our most prominent scientists in the area of Motor Control, Dr. Carlo De Luca. It will be given for outstanding research by a graduate student in the area of motor control. The award winner will be expected to present her/his work at the ISB conference, and will receive a plaque and $US 2,500.

The details of the award need ratification from the executive board of ISB, but will likely be as follows:
-          Candidate is a doctoral student towards the end of her/his graduate career
(PhD received no earlier than the year of the award; i.e. 2011 for the first competition)
-          Award is given for biomechanical work in the area of Motor Control
-          The recipient of the award will be chosen based on CV and her/his two best publications
-          Award submission must be made by the date of the abstract submission deadline

Please read the next newsletter for detailed information, or contact me directly if you have any questions.

Past-president ISB
